01 · Getting started

Plan the first screen.

What does SignCloudNine cost?

Your first screen is included for 30 days. No card is required, and the time begins only when the first Apple TV successfully connects—not while you create the workspace or build its board.

Afterward, software access is $50 per screen per year, billed annually. The screen keeps playing its last-known-good content if the license expires, with a visible reminder to re-enable it. Starting annual billing early does not shorten the included time.

Adding another paid screen during the year can create an immediate prorated charge. Removing a screen lowers the next annual renewal quantity but does not automatically refund the current paid period. Apple TV hardware, displays, installation, content creation, onsite service, taxes, and separately agreed managed services are not included.

What equipment do I need?

Each screen needs a compatible Apple TV, a display with an available HDMI input, network access, and the SignCloudNine tvOS app. A phone or computer with a modern browser is used for the manager.

Can I create the workspace myself?

Yes. Create the owner workspace, name the first site, publish its approved board configuration, and then add a screen. Use assisted rollout help when hardware, installation, or a larger multi-site plan is part of the work.

Does every manager need an Apple TV remote?

No. Routine content, assignments, schedules, and status are managed from the browser. A remote can still be useful for the initial direct setup or local troubleshooting when the Apple TV is not managed through MDM.

02 · Screens & content

Connect, publish, and protect.

How do I connect an Apple TV without MDM?

In the manager, open Screens, select Add screen, choose its site and starting board state, and create the setup code. Open SignCloudNine on the Apple TV, enter that code, and select Connect screen.

The code expires after 24 hours and can be used only once.

Can one setup code enroll several Apple TVs?

No. Every Apple TV needs its own single-use code. This prevents one copied code from silently joining another device to the workspace.

Can a content update move or resize the layout?

Routine updates replace approved images or videos while protected zone geometry remains locked. The manager prevents content publishing from changing zone size, position, depth, rotation, or opacity.

How do I know the new content reached the screen?

Do not stop at the publish confirmation. Open Screens and wait for the Apple TV to report Playing with the expected assignment or revision. A connected but unconfirmed screen still needs review.

Can screens follow a schedule?

Yes. A screen keeps its default assignment outside scheduled hours. Recurring rules can select another published board state by day, start time, end time, and time zone.

03 · MDM & reliability

Remote operation has prerequisites.

Can SignCloudNine be deployed remotely with MDM?

Yes—after the Apple TV is supervised and enrolled in a compatible MDM. Install the app first, send its managed app configuration with a unique one-time setup code, verify the screen is playing, and then apply App Lock or Single App Mode for a dedicated signage device.

Can an unmanaged Apple TV become supervised remotely?

No. Zero-touch rollout depends on Automated Device Enrollment through Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. An existing unmanaged Apple TV must first be added with an Apple-supported enrollment path, which can require erasing or locally preparing the device.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The app retains its last-known-good presentation and cached media. New content, schedule changes, and manager status updates wait for connectivity to return; the current verified board remains the fallback.

Should the setup code stay in the MDM profile?

No. After the manager shows the screen as playing, remove or blank the setup code in managed configuration. The Apple TV continues with the durable credential stored by the app.

04 · Support

Check the right surface first.

What should I check when one screen is dark?

Confirm display power and HDMI input, Apple TV power, and local network state. Then open Screens and note the screen name, last check-in, assignment, and recent failures. Restart the app or Apple TV once; do not erase the device or delete the app as a first step.

How do I tell a local problem from a platform problem?

Check whether the manager and public status page load, then compare other screens at the same site. One dark display while other screens and the manager remain current usually points to the local display, Apple TV, HDMI path, or network.

Check platform status
What should I include in a support request?

Include the site name, screen name, what is visible, when it last worked, whether other screens are affected, and the manager status or recent failure. Do not send passwords, administrator keys, setup codes, or device credentials.
